Julien's Auctions owner Darren Julien and his partner Martin Nolan had to return all 1,390 items they had hoped to put under the hammer to Jackson's MJJ Productions after the star's attorneys insisted they had no rights to sell the memorabilia.

The matter was settled amicably out of court, and Julien insists he and Jackson were on good terms when the singer died last week (25Jun09). He's hopeful the memorabilia sale can now take place at some time in the future.

He tells WENN, "We've returned everything, we worked everything out. But we would consider a new auction if the Jackson family and MJJ Productions sanctioned it, because it's important to us that they're in control of it and approve it."

The original auction featured a limousine Jackson had custom made, various costumes and clothing and the gates from the singer's Neverland estate in Santa Barbara, California.

Julien and his staff witnessed the sudden boost in Jackson memorabilia during an auction in Las Vegas on Friday (26Jun09) - the day after the King of Pop's death.

The auction house sold 21 Jackson items from the collection of his friend David Gest for $1 million (£666,600).
