Instruments and handwritten lyrics belonging to the former Beatle will go on display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex in the Big Apple later this month (May09).

Entitled John Lennon: The New York City Years, it will also show personal photographs and a self-portrait of the late star.

A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will go towards Spirit Foundations, a charitable organisation created by Lennon and Yoko Ono.
