The Rosemary's Baby star is planning to live off nothing but water for 21 days, in a bid to raise awareness of the plight of those starving and suffering in war-ravaged Darfur in Sudan.

Doctors have warned the 64 year old she could cause irreversible damage to her body by fasting, but Farrow still began her strike on Monday (27Apr09), and she's adamant she'll continue for as long as she can.

And she will write daily updates on the internet so fans can monitor her progress.

She says, "I would ask people (to) go to my website, MiaFarrow.org. I'll be blogging every day that I can."

And the actress is hopeful her stand will encourage others to do the same for the people of Darfur.

She adds, "If anyone wants to join me in a fast, you're welcome to it, even for one day, to show solidarity with Darfur's people, and express our own outrage at a world that has allowed this to happen."
