AMERICAN IDOL's tough judge SIMON COWELL has urged MICHAEL JACKSON to consider an appearance on the TV talent show ahead of his comeback gigs in London this summer (09) - insisting he'd be foolish not to perform on the hit programme.

Jackson has announced a 50-date residency at London's 02 Arena, which will begin in July (09) - and music mogul Cowell has proposed the King of Pop gives America a thrill with a showcase on Idol first.

He says, "It's the best platform he can have in America right now. He'd be stupid not to do it."
