The rocker and his pal, Larry Johnson, made the journey in Young's classic 1959 Lincoln, so celebrity mechanic Jonathan Goodwin could give the car a green makeover at his Wichita headquarters.

Young and Johnson hit the famous Route 66 for the majority of the trip, filming their exploits for an upcoming documentary, called Linc-Volt.

Young now plans to race his environmentally-friendly classic motor, which is now powered by ethanol, across America in the X Prize Foundation's cross-country drive.
