According to a new Los Angeles Times report, Aniston has handed over more than $28,000 (GBP17,500) to Obama's campaign with Clooney adding $33,000 (GBP20,600) and Newman $4,600 (GBP2,875).

Meanwhile, Republican moviemakers Bruckheimer and Eastwood are hoping their $9,600 (GBP6,000) and $2,300 (GBP1,437) respectively will help McCain's run for America's top office.

Donald Trump has been one of McCain's biggest financial supporters, handing over $32,000 (GBP20,000), and actors Kelsey Grammer and Gary Sinise have also stumped up for the Republican.

The election for the next U.S. President takes place on 4 November (08).
