The rap star, real name Earl Simmons, is now in custody in a Phoenix jail on theft charges after he was transferred on Wednesday (10Sep08) from a Miami holding cell after pleading guilty to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession.

Simmons was fined $483 (GBP261), sentenced to time served and then extradited to Arizona, where he was arrested on a fugitive warrant for failing to appear in Maricopa County Superior Court.

DMX also faces several animal cruelty and drug possession counts in the state.

The 37-year-old must post $25,000 (GBP13,513) bail before he's released.
