Melanie Chisholm leaving the Capital Awards held at the Riverbank Park Plaza, London, England - 20.03.08
The singer admits she was reluctant to sign up to the reunion because she feared it would bring back unpleasant memories of her time in the band - including her struggle with deadly eating disorder anorexia.
But Chisholm insists that reforming the girl group turned out to be a therapeutic experience for her - as it laid to rest all her negative feelings about being in the band.
She says, "At first I was frightened of being overwhelmed by all those old feelings. There was a big part of me that didn't want to be reminded of who I was back then. But then I started to feel that maybe this was something I had to do.
"When it was over, I was finally proud to be a Spice Girl. All those frightened, negative, mixed feelings had disappeared."
