Day-Lewis claimed the honour for his role in There Will Be Blood, which also claimed the Best Film prize on Saturday night (12Jan08), while Cotillard was victorious for her portrayal of French singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.
There Will Be Blood's Paul Thomas Anderson claimed the night's Best Director award, while the other acting honours went to Amy Ryan (Best Supporting Actress for Gone Baby Gone and 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days star Vlad Ivanov (Best Supporting Actor).
