SIR MICHAEL CAINE

Caine has been highly critical in the past of remakes of his hit films Alfie, The Italian Job and Get Carter - and he is astonished the studios continue to resurrect old films, with new versions of Casablanca and Twelve Angry Men in the pipelines.

Speaking at the Venice Film Festival, Caine says, "If you remake a good film, you're on a hiding to nothing."
