The Crash star, who is married to director Ol Parker, admits she ditched her pet cat on meeting her husband and fears unattached women are using their pets as a "man substitute".

She says, "If you're single, the first thing you need to do is ditch your cat.

"I got rid of my cat as soon as I met my husband, although, of course, I made sure it went to a good home.

"I realise that it was simply a man substitute and because I had got a real one, I didn't need it anymore."
