SPIDER-MAN STAR RECALLS HAIRLOSS DAYS
Actor J.K. SIMMONS' SPIDER-MAN makeover reminds him what he looked like starting out as an actor - as he tried to hide the fact he was bald.

J.K. SIMMONS

The veteran, who plays temperamental newspaper boss J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man films, admits he was advised never to advertise the fact his hair was thinning when he started out in his career.

He says, "I started losing my hair when I was 22, and I was once counselled not to be seen without hair if I wanted to be a leading man.

"So I had a piece made, and I wore it for a few auditions, but I could never bring myself to wear it in real life."

But Simmons reveals he had no problem donning a wig and prosthetic teeth to play a comic book character: "The more I read the comic books, I thought, `You gotta have the wig, and you gotta have the moustache.'"
