Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack

Irish stage actress Sinead Cusack gave biological son, Richard Boyd Barrett, up for adoption in 1968 - ten years before she married Golden Globe-winning Irons.

Since they were reunited, Cusack, 59, has been campaigning for Barrett - who ran as a candidate in yesterday's (25May07) Irish elections.

She says, "It was wonderful to be reunited with him.

"I'm very happy, very proud."
