The Suddenly Susan actress, 41, is playing film studio president Wendy Healy opposite Kim Raver and Lindsay Price in the big-screen adaptation of Candace Bushnell's best-selling book.

When filming on the TV series began in Manhattan this morning, Shields inadvertently became late on set when she found she couldn't exit her trailer.

After failed attempts by crewmembers to get inside the trailer, one of the TV employees climbed through her window in a bid to help Shields open the door from the inside.

However, after repeated attempts, the crew realised they would have to do the expensive thing and break the door down.

A giggling Shields emerged from the trailer unscathed and quickly called a friend to share the experience.

Lipstick Jungle hopes to emulate the success of Bushnell's previous novel-to-TV adaptation, Sex And The City, which ended in 2005.
