The GLADIATOR star was convicted in a Manhattan court last November (05) after pleading guilty to the third-degree assault of Mercer Hotel employee NESTOR ESTRADA with a telephone handset.

He claims marriage and having two kids have helped tame his wild ways, but is frustrated no one else in the film industry recognises it.

Crowe says, "I think my reputation is something I'll probably try to spend the rest of my life living down.

"I have got a temper but I'm 100 per cent reliable on the set."
