The BREATHE hitmaker and members of his entourage were charged with criminal possession of a weapon after police caught them speeding from the scene of a shooting incident in New York, which left the rapper wounded.

But now Fabolous' lawyer insists a hired investigator will find exonerating evidence to clear his client's name and prove he was the innocent party in the drama last Tuesday (17OCT06).

The private detective has been commissioned to uncover what went on outside rap mogul SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS' restaurant Justin's moments before shots rang out.

The rapper's attorney ALBERTO EBANKS says, "We want to look into everything that happened that day. The New York Police Department is so overburdened with so many investigations on so many fronts that we want to help them better understand what happened.

"I feel that rather than sit around and wait, we want to be proactive about information. It has to do with getting these charges removed as early as possible."

Fabolous was charged late last week and released on $150,000 (GBP83,300) bail.
