McDermott played ambitious neurosurgeon DR DOUGLAS HANSEN in a pilot episode of the drama last year (05) but producers felt the project was too dark, and now Tucci will step into the role.

The show, titled for the weight of the average human brain, also features former SEX + THE CITY star CYNTHIA NIXON as Hansen's wife.
