It is the 42-year-old stars first child with her husband of almost two years, 38-year-old actor PETER HERMANN.

The baby was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and weighed in at 10 pound 9 ounces (4.79 kilograms).

The new arrival was born one week after his due date via Caesarean-Section.

Hargitay's father, actor MICKEY HARGITAY, and brother were also present for the delivery. Her actress mother JAYNE MANSFIELD died in a road accident in 1967.
