The British star, nominated for a Tony Award tomorrow (11JUN06), turns off the lights in his dressing room before taking to the stage - and then returns to clean up during the show.

He explains, "I come back after my first monologue and wash up the drinking glasses that have been used the night before.

"I decompress by washing and drying in the dark."
