The BAD BOY FOR LIFE hitmaker had hoped to fight the New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division's 2005 decision he should pay former love MISA HYLTON-BRIM for the care of their son, 12-year-old JUSTIN.

However, Combs insists his efforts weren't completely wasted as an original settlement was ordered at a rate of $35,000 (GBP19,500) per month.

His attorney STEPHEN GASSMAN says, "We're pleased the original order was reduced but we thought there were issues applicable for the Court of Appeals to entertain."

The 36-year-old also pays child support to KIM PORTER to help care for his other son CHRISTIAN.
