Macy Gray went to New Orleans not for a concert but to help those in need. She handed out toiletries and clothes for a whole afternoon. Macy felt so good after just being there and aiding these suffering survivors. She can see in these people strength but also nervousness of what is going to happen next in their lives. There are about 18,500 people sheltered in the Astrodome and 120,000 refugees in shelters in Texas. Also motels, hotels, churches and private homes are filled with people, too. Governor Rick Perry said that their state was running out of room for all these people crossing the state line and seeking shelter. Even though Texas might be running out of room they are dedicated to helping as much as possible. The governor also comments they just want to help these victims of hurricane Katrina to get their lives back to normal as fast as possible. Gray was happy she came to help. She was able to bring smiles and lift spirits. Macy enjoyed every minute of her visit to the Astrodome.
