GONZO JOURNALIST ENDING WITH A BANG
The eccentri journalist, Hunter S. Thompson, memorial celebration is ended with a bang Saturday night.

Hunter S. Thompson Hunter S. Thompson asked his friends to send his ashes shot into the sky. He had built a 153-foot tower made out of fiberglass. Thompson made the tower to have his ashes fired out of it. The eccentric journalist loved explosions. He even took his life that way six months ago, by killing himself. Thompson made the tower to represent his “Gonzo logo, a clenched fist, made symmetrical with two thumbs, rising from the hilt of a dagger.” According by Associated Press. Thompson wanted his memorial to be a celebration of his life---to end with a BANG. Two hundred and fifty of his famous friends were invited to watch the cascade of his ashes then party on his farm. One of the estranged writer’s closest friends Johnny Depp arranged and funded the celebration costing him 2.5 million dollars. Johnny Depp and Thompson’s wife Anita, 32, wanted to fulfill every wish Hunter S. Thompson asked. Thompson always portrayed himself as wildly intoxicated. A real wild boy! He had many drinking friends all over the country as far back as 35 years or so of friendship. He loved to party. There is no known reason why he killed himself except that his health was declining and he was having a hard time dealing with it. He was 67 when he died.
