JAY SEAN CALLS FOR SHOW PROMOTERS TO BE MORE HONEST

British R&B star JAY SEAN has hit out at U.S. event promoters for 'misleading' fans by advertising club appearances as live concerts - because he feels he's 'letting down' his devotees whenever it occurs.

The singer shot to fame Stateside when his single Down became a summer smash and topped the Billboard chart in October (09).

Sean has been touring the U.S. ever since, with shows and appearances in cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, Georgia, Chicago, Illinois, and New York - but he admits he's unhappy with the way some promoters have been falsely advertising events he's only meant to be hosting.

He tells WENN, "We've been doing so many shows and afterwards it's an afterparty or something like that and because of the wording in the flyers and posters, sometimes fans are led to the assumption that it's a full on concert with a band and dancers.

"Then when I turn up I only play my singles and then I feel awful 'cause I feel like I'm letting the fans down. I was in Pittsburgh on Sunday and it was billed as 'live in concert', but I didn't see the flyer until I got there.

"It's unfortunate 'cause I know fans will feel like I've let them down. Even knowing that, I tried to extend it (his set). I did acapellas, beatboxing... as much as I could without the full stage equipment."

But Sean is keen to set the record straight for his followers because he doesn't want to lose fans over the promoter mess.

He adds, "The only thing I think is fair is for the promoter to promote it as it is; a hosting is a hosting, not a full performance. A 'live in concert' is very different to a personal appearance or hosting gig, and if it's advertised correctly, at least fans won't be misled. Ultimately fans won't take it out on the promoter, they'll take it out on us.

"I don't like letting my fans down, that's the last thing I want. The relationship between fans and the artist is such a passionate relationship, because without them, I wouldn't exist."
