DEBRA WINANS THANKS WINFREY FOR TAKING STAND AGAINST EX
Gospel star BEBE WINANS' ex-wife has applauded OPRAH WINFREY for banning the singer from appearing on her talk show, pending his trial on domestic assault charges.
Debra Winans attacked Winfrey for inviting the singer on her show last week (30Nov09), while taking a public stand against R&B star Chris Brown over his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna back in February (09).
Bebe Winans is facing misdemeanour assault charges stemming from an alleged fight with his ex. He is accused of pushing her to the ground and is due back in court in January (10).
The media mogul acted swiftly to block Winans from making any future appearances - and Debra has publicly thanked the chat show queen for the decision.
She tells TMZ.com, "It further demonstrates the fact that Oprah continues to be a strong voice against domestic violence and that she's willing to take the steps necessary to defend the defenceless."
