ROBBIE WILLIAMS has been given a comeback boost - he'll be awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize at next year's (10) Brit Awards in London.

The former Take That star, who has won more Brits than any other artist, will be honoured at the 30th annual prizegiving on 16 February (10).

Williams will also close the awards show, which will take place at London's Earls Court, with a performance.

After a recent hiatus, the Angels singer is back on the European charts with hit single Bodies. A new album, Reality Killed The Video Star, will be released on 9 November (09).

Williams won the Best British Male Brit in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003 and claimed the Best Song Award for Angels in 2005 and Best Single honours for Angels in 1999, She's The One in 2000 and Rock DJ in 2001.

He has landed 31 nominations in total - 22 as a solo artist - and won 11. The pop star won four of nine awards he was nominated for as a member of Take That.

Previous recipients of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award include The Pet Shop Boys, Paul McCartney, Oasis, U2, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Sting, David Bowie, Eurythmics, The Beatles and The Who.
