Actor RANDY QUAID and his wife EVI failed to show up in court on Monday (19Oct09) to face felony charges of failing to pay a $10,000 (£6,600) hotel bill.

The couple was taken into custody in Marfa, Texas last month (Sep09) after a California judge issued an arrest warrant, citing the outstanding bill from the luxury San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara.
The Quaids were released after each posting $20,000 (£13,300) bail and they are now facing three felony charges of allegedly burglarising and defrauding the hotel owner.
Their lawyer claims they had intended to settle the bill after leaving the resort but it got lost in the post when they moved house.
The bill has now reportedly been paid in full, but charges against the couple have not been dropped. They were due to appear in court on 19 October (09), but they rang the District Attorney's office on Friday (16Oct09) to cancel the appearance.
The Quaids' attorney, Ken Johnson, said the pair "just couldn't make it Monday - that it was too soon."
A court appearance has been scheduled for next Monday (26Oct09), Carter says, "I have begun the very lengthy process of preparing the extradition paperwork for the Quaids."
