STARS SAY GOODBYE TO DJ AM

LINDSAY LOHAN, ROBERT DOWNEY JR. and NICOLE RICHIE were among the mourners who attended a star-studded memorial service for the late ADAM 'DJ AM' GOLDSTEIN on Thursday evening (03Aug09).

The club icon was found dead in his downtown New York apartment on Friday (28Aug09), aged 36, amid rumours of a possible drugs overdose.

Close friends and family paid their last respects to the star at a private funeral in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (02Sep09).

A second memorial service was held on Thursday in the city.

Goldstein's former fiancee Richie turned out to honour the DJ, along with Lohan and her on/off girlfriend Samantha Ronson and Downey Jr. with his wife, Susan Levin.

The service at the Hollywood Palladium was also attended by Iron Man director Jon Favreau, socialite Nicky Hilton, Rebecca Gayheart and her husband Eric Dane.

HARRISON EXHIBITION CLOSED AFTER THEFT

An exhibition honouring late BEATLES star GEORGE HARRISON in his hometown has been closed after a rare signed photograph of the star was stolen.

The For George tribute opened in early August (09) in his native Liverpool, England, displaying memorabilia and rare artifacts from the musician's career.

But organisers have shut the gallery after one of the prized exhibits, worth $1,600 (£1,000), was taken by a visitor.

Denise Theophilus, who helped put together the event, says, "I want to make it clear that 10,000 people have seen this exhibition and it is only one person who has done this. I do not want it to end on a negative note."

MUSIC MANAGER EYDMANN DIES IN ITALY

The man who managed Britpop pioneers SUEDE throughout the 1990s has died following a boating accident in Italy.

Jon Peter Eydmann, who represented the group during their heyday, was on holiday with his family at the country's picturesque Lake Como, where Hollywood superstar George Clooney owns a villa.

The 41 year old dived from the family's boat during an outing on the lake on Monday (31Aug09) but fell ill and his worried relatives were unable to pull him out of the water.

Emergency services rescued him, but found him comatose. Medics in a local hospital spent two days caring for him before he passed away on Wednesday (02Sep09).

A spokesman for the British consulate in Milan says, "Something happened when he dived into the water but as yet we don't know what. It seems to have been a tragic accident but it has left his family devastated and very shocked."

JACKSON IS LAID TO REST AMONG THE STARS

Stars including ELIZABETH TAYLOR, MACAULAY CULKIN and LISA MARIE PRESLEY turned out to honour MICHAEL JACKSON as he was laid to rest in a private ceremony in California - ten weeks after his sudden death.

The King of Pop passed away at his Holmby Hills home on 25 June (09) and a week later he was remembered with a family funeral and a star-studded public memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

It has taken over two months for the star's body to buried following a reported disagreement among his family over a suitable burial ground.

The Jackson clan eventually decided to inter the singer at the Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park and on Thursday evening (03Sep09), the star's family and friends came together once more to pay their respects.

Jackson's family, including his mother Katherine and father Joe, his siblings, and his three children Prince Michael, Paris, and Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, were driven to the memorial park in a fleet of Rolls Royce limousines - arriving over an hour late for the planned 7pm (local time) start.

The star's close friends including Macaulay Culkin and his girlfriend Mila Kunis, actor Chris Tucker, and Elizabeth Taylor attended the outdoor ceremony, which saw around 200 guests seated on white chairs on the lawns outside the crypt and signing a book of condolence for the fallen King of Pop.

Taylor was left devastated by her close friend's death and refused to attend his public memorial service because she didn't want to be part of the "whoopla," but agreed to attend the private ceremony on Thursday.

Jackson's ex-wife Presley also turned out to honour her late former husband.

Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight were both reportedly ask to sing at the tribute, ahead of Jackson's $30,000 (£20,000) gold casket being lowered into a concrete burial pit close to stars including Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and his idol Walt Disney.

Security was tight at the service, with police setting up a wide perimeter around the park to stop fans getting anywhere near the private ceremony. Helicopters with thermal imaging devices also circled overhead to detect any unwanted intruders.

Two fans reportedly attempted to gatecrash the event in the hours leading up to the service, but they were swiftly apprehended by security guards and then removed by police, according to Sky News.

The family reportedly planned to hold a private celebration following the service at an Italian restaurant in Pasadena, California.

ROCKER BROWN STRUGGLING WITH PANCREATITIS

Former PANTERA star REX BROWN is to undergo surgery to have his gallbladder removed.

The bassist, who currently plays with heavy rockers Down, will also have polyps on his pancreas lasered off during the surgical procedure, which is scheduled to take place later this week (begs31Aug09).

According to Blabbermouth.net, Brown is suffering from acute pancreatitis, which could prove deadly if not treated.

The musician was diagnosed after experiencing severe pain and discomfort on Down's recent European tour.

He will spend the next two months recovering but is expected to return to full health.

As a result of his surgery and recuperation, Brown has decided to sit out the remainder of Down's current North American tour.

He says, "I miss being with my brothers on tour but we're all cool with the fact that I need to take care of myself at this time."

RAPPER MAX B JAILED FOR MURDER

Rapper MAX B has been sentenced to 75 years behind bars after a New Jersey judge found him guilty of murdering a hotel guest in a botched robbery.

The Harlem hip-hop star, real name Charly Wingate, was charged with felony murder along with his accomplice, Kelvin Leerdam, for shooting and killing David Taylor in September, 2006.

Wingate's girlfriend Gina Conway, who planned the robbery, testified against the rapper and Leerdam in court in Hackensack, New Jersey in June (09).

Leerdam was handed a life sentence and an additional 35 years behind bars and Conway is facing an 18-year sentence for her part in the crime.

Prior to receiving his sentence, Max B had just signed a deal with Amalgam Digital Records and he was in the process of releasing his debut album, Vigilante Season.

Max B also co-wrote Jim Jones' 2006 hit We Fly High (Ballin').

GAGA DISMISSES 'FEUD' WITH PUSSYCAT DOLLS

LADY GAGA has dismissed rumours of a feud with tour mates the PUSSYCAT DOLLS, insisting the girl group didn't feel upstaged by the stellar reviews the opening act received.

The Just Dance singer got her start in the music industry writing songs for the burlesque-inspired band before carving out her own solo career.

And now she has come full circle - she opened for the Pussycat Dolls on a worldwide tour earlier this year (09).

But some critics have suggested she was the main draw - as she consistently outshone the headliners.

GaGa suggests the reports are aimed at driving a wedge between all the girls, and she insists she'll always remain great friends with her Dolls.

She says, "It's something that never really came to my attention until interviews... We had such a wonderful time on the road and I'm just grateful to travel and reach lots of my fans at once. Because of them (Pussycat Dolls), I can now come back and play the area by myself, so I'm very grateful."

The No Doubt rocker admits she constantly worries about her skills as a mother to sons Kingston and Zuma, and regularly turns to her own parents for advice - even though they were so strict when she was a child.

She tells America's Glamour magazine, "I was thinking today when I was driving, 'How am I going to make sure that Kingston never does anything bad and doesn't get arrested?' I was thinking, 'How did I stay out of trouble?' And I know it's just because my parents are so strict. I mean, I'm still scared of them!

"I grew up in a normal family. The other evening, at the end of the night, I was there with Kingston putting him to bed, reading all his books, getting his diaper on and putting him in his crib. Then I got Zuma, nursed him, put him to sleep. Then I went to a Hollywood party! It is extremely different from how my parents raised me.

"I've always worked really hard, and the hardest thing I've ever done is have kids! Everything from getting up in the morning, to trying to be consistent, to trying to have the right feelings. But, of course, the rewards are great."

MOORE THREATENS LEGAL ACTION AGAINST PEREZ HILTON

DEMI MOORE and celebrity blogger PEREZ HILTON have declared war on each other over a set of 'inappropriate' pictures of the actress' teenage daughter TALLULAH.

Moore is seething after she spotted a link on Hilton's site directing viewers to snaps of the 15 year old, the youngest of her three girls with ex-husband Bruce Willis. The photos show the teen baring her chest in a revealing top and wearing a tiny pair of shorts.

Moore has taken to her Twitter.com page to vent her anger about the pictures, accusing the blogger of flouting child pornography laws.

She fumes, "Expect another letter from my attorney, kitten."

Moore goes on to rage about Hilton's "exploitation" of teens in a series of furious posts, writing, "Clearly Perez Hilton isn't taking violating child pornography laws very seriously. He might not but there are a lot of people who do! Anyone who advertises follows or supports Perez supports violating child pornography laws!

"Let me ask all of you, what is it called when someone is telling people to look and focus on a child's 'boobs & ass' while providing photos? (It's) child pornography! Or just being a general pervert/creep. Disgusting! This is not a game. Children should not be exploited. They must be protected."

Hilton has hit back at Moore, calling her comments, "libellous, defamatory, inaccurate and stupid."

In a post on his own Twitter.com page, he writes, "Thanks for drawing MORE attention to your daughter's behaviour and your parenting skills (or lack thereof). U r (sic) real smart!

"That is CLEARLY not child porn. And I didn't even post those on my site! I would not let my 15 year old daughter dress like that under ANY context. You are delusional and slightly senile!"

The Cheers star has become the Hollywood poster boy for all things hemp and high, and he even lit up a joint for a recent Playboy magazine interview at his home in Hawaii.

Harrelson just can't understand why marijuana hasn't been legalised - and why everyone thinks he's high all the time.

He tells the publication, "I've seen it printed that I'm a marijuana activist, and I understand that, but it's really just something I enjoy."

"Folks may have a drink... People may want to pop a pill before going to a party - that's not for me. Cocaine freaks me out."

"I like the mellow vibe of herb, its uninhibiting effect. For me, it's a better drug than any of the others, and since we're all drug addicts, I don't think it's a bad choice."

And Kruger admits she quickly became disillusioned with the modelling industry - because the glossy, airbrushed girls in the magazines are not a realistic reflection of female beauty.

She tells Interview magazine, "I've got to tell you, the reason I stopped modelling was because I wasn't pleased with trying to portray something that is impossible to reach.

"Even when I do photoshoots now for films, I'm just not interested in trying to look my best all the time anymore. That pursuit of an impossible perfection seems ridiculous to me now. I'd rather show my vulnerabilities or my doubts than try to be something that no one is."

Kunis has already begun a rigorous traning routine to help her perfect her pirouettes - and she admits dance is taking over her life.

She tells Fox News, "I've been studying for the past month, seven days a week, four to five hours a day of doing ballet, cardio and pilates and I have two more months before choreography begins.

"This ballet I'm doing you can't fake it. Your body has to be structured differently, your hips have to be turned out, your shoulders have to be turned in, everything in your body is not natural, so I'm learning everyday."

The new film reportedly features a steamy same-sex love scene between the two leading ladies.

Charlaine Harris, who penned the book that inspired TV writer Alan Ball to create a new vampire drama, is convinced people no longer look at the undead bloodsuckers as monsters - but would rather like to be one.

The author says, "We're all obsessed with youth and staying in peak condition. Vampires don't have to go to the gym. They don't have to die. They don't have to go on (diet plan) NutriSystem. They don't have to have new knees.

"They don't get high blood pressure - they don't have blood pressure. It's all effortless for them, and I think we're all going, 'Gosh, that sure looks good!'"
