The band shot to fame in 2006 when their first record, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, shot straight to number one and became the country's fastest-selling debut.
Their follow-up Favourite Worst Nightmare clinched the top spot in 2007 and now the band have done it again with Humbug, which was named the week's best-selling album on Sunday (30Aug09).
Dance sensation David Guetta is at number two with One Love, followed by Calvin Harris with Ready For The Weekend at three. The top five is rounded out by Black Eyed Peas' The END and Catch 22 by Tinchy Stryder at four and five respectively.
Meanwhile Arctic Monkeys collaborator Dizzee Rascal has taken the singles chart by storm, landing his third consecutive number one single with Holiday. The London rapper teamed up with the band to record the track Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend.
David Guetta appears again in the singles chart with Sexy Chick featuring Akon at number two and the Black Eyed Peas are third with I Gotta Feeling. Calvin Harris' song Ready For The Weekend is at four and Tinchy Stryder's collaboration with Sugababes star Amelle, Never Leave You, claims fifth place.
