Tragic DJ AM was putting the finishing touches to an MTV reality series about drug abuse and intervention when he died on Friday (28Aug09).
The former drug abuser was shooting Gone Too Far, which was set to air later this year (09).
Ironically, he suffered a reported drug overdose in his New York apartment and was found dead on Friday evening.
The New York Post is reporting that drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment.
In a recent interview about Gone Too Far, with U.S. TV news show Extra, DJ AM - real name Adam Goldstein - reflected on the need for intervention for drug abuse, stating, "It's life or death, some of these people have come so close to dying, just as I did... I had no shot, but it's never too late."
It is not known if MTV will air the eight episodes of Gone Too Far DJ AM shot before his death.

ADAM 'DJ AM' GOLDSTEIN spoke of his "daily struggle" to cope with life just weeks before his tragic death from a suspected drug overdose.
The DJ survived a plane crash that claimed the lives of four people in September last year (08) - but the incident left him deeply traumatised.
Last month (Jul09), he spoke of his battle to come to terms with the fact that he and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker survived the horror accident in South Carolina while others died.
Goldstein said, "There's no reason why I should have lived or why I lived and they didn't. And it's something I struggle with every day."
The DJ was found dead on Friday (28Aug09) at his New York apartment, where authorities reportedly found drug paraphernalia.
Goldstein was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1973 and lived a troubled childhood, turning to food to deal with an abusive father he later learned was gay and a drug addict.
By his early 20s, Goldstein had fallen into a deep depression, battling an addiction to crack cocaine that took hold of his life and eventually drove him to attempt suicide at 24.
The star put a loaded gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger but the weapon jammed, a moment he later described as a turning point that prompted him to eventually give up drugs and undergo gastric bypass surgery to drastically lose weight.
He gained early fame for his involvement with the rock band Crazy Town, but grabbed even more headlines after embarking on a relationship with Lionel Richie's daughter Nicole, to whom he was engaged in 2005.
His career picked up speed as he found work remixing on albums for stars including Madonna and Will Smith, while booking live work scratching at A-list private parties for Jennifer Lopez, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, among others.
He also collaborated with Travis Barker as the hip-hop-rock duo TRV$DJAM, but their careers were halted and lives changed forever after the horrific plane crash in South Carolina.
Barker and Goldstein, the only survivors of the tragedy, were admitted to a Georgia hospital in critical condition with severe burns.
Goldstein's ex-girlfriend, pop star Mandy Moore, rushed to be by his bedside as he recovered, and the pair briefly reconciled their relationship before breaking up in December 2008.
He made his live comeback performing alongside rapper Jay-Z on stage in October (08), but when he sued the jet company two months later, his lawsuit revealed he was seeking damages for "pain, suffering, mental anguish, psychological and emotional distress, disfigurement and pre-impact fear of death and burning".
The recovering addict admitted he was seeking psychological help to come to terms with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, telling People.com he had nightmares about a man chasing him with a blowtorch.

Rocker TRENT REZNOR has defended his decision to quit touring with NINE IN NAILS, revealing it's a rebellion against music industry greed.
The band has announced it's long-winded farewell tour will come to an end after concerts in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles this year (09).
Reznor insists the band will continue to make new music, but he wants to escape the gruelling greed-inspired process of promoting records on long, gruelling tours.
He tells Blabbermouth.net, "I got into this because I felt that I had something to say; it wasn't to get rich and it wasn't to get famous. But in the climate today, there are people nudging me towards, 'OK, you've made some money, let's make more money.' And you make money touring.
"But I find that, as a 44-year-old man, that's not really what I want to do all the time. I'm not saying I don't enjoy playing shows, but I don't need to do it for a year, living the same day over and over again. My time would be much better spent creatively, rather than sitting on a tour bus because it's a money-making machine."

THE ENEMY rocker TOM CLARKE was left red-faced after crashing his brand new sports car - less than a week after purchasing it.
The frontman drove his TVR 350c off a busy road, before spinning out of control and smashing into a pole.
He says, "I'd only had the car four days! I lost it in the outside lane of the A90 (U.K. road) on my way to Aberdeen (Scotland). The car spun four times before hitting a barrier, then it left the road and went over a bollard before wrapping around a parking sign."
The star has released a photo of his wrecked vehicle as a warning to fans to drive safely, admitting he was lucky to have walked away with his life: "Amazingly, there were no injuries. The crash felt like when you fall over trying to put your boxers on!"

"In addition, she's launching a Totally Fit class, inspired by her best-selling DVD after becoming a Fitness First (U.K. gym) ambassador.

Classic horror B movie THE BLOB is heading back to the big screen - thanks to rocker-turned-film maker ROB ZOMBIE.
Zombie is writing, directing and producing a $30 million (£20 million) remake of the 1958 film, about an alien jelly that lands in a small town and consumes its human inhabitants.
The filmmaker reveals he plans to take the classic story in a different direction.
Zombie tells Variety.com, "My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing - that's the first thing I want to change. That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now. I'd been looking to break out of the horror genre, and this really is a science fiction movie about a thing from outer space. I intend to make it scary, and the great thing is I have the freedom once again to take it in any crazy direction I want to."

LINDSAY LOHAN has prompted rumours she's patched up her rift with her dad MICHAEL, after the pair was spotted on a California shopping spree.
Dad and daughter have enjoyed a rocky relationship since Michael split from Lohan's mother Dina and his subsequent spell in jail after crashing his car while drunk.
Michael then vocally disapproved of his daughter's lesbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, suggesting the Brit was a bad influence on Lohan.
But a sighting of the pair shopping for jewellery together suggests they've made peace.
Lohan Sr jetted to his daughter's side last weekend (23-24Aug09) after her home was burgled, vowing to help catch the culprits.

JOHN TRAVOLTA's wife KELLY PRESTON has cancelled plans to talk in public about the death of the couple's son JETT, because she's still wracked with grief.
Jett died suddenly in January (09) after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas. He was 16.
Preston had agreed to break her silence about his death at a women's conference in October (09), hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife Maria Shriver, but the actress has backed out.
She explains in a statement, "It is with my sincere apologies that I must pull out from speaking at the conference. I am sorry, but I truly believed that I could do it. Otherwise I never would have said that I could. But I am still deeply in the process of healing, and it's just too soon."
Shriver, who is mourning the recent deaths of her mother Eunice Kennedy, and uncle Senator Edward Kennedy, has released her own statement, sympathising with Preston's anguish: "I know how hard it was for Kelly to make this decision and she has my complete support and understanding."

NOEL GALLAGHER has sensationally quit OASIS after a dramatic pre-concert fight with his bandmate brother LIAM.
The Wonderwall rockers had a massive bust-up backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, France, on Friday (28Aug09) just minutes before they were due to perform.
It's claimed singer Liam smashed one of Noel's guitars, sending his brother into a fury. After a confrontation, a raging Noel stormed out and announced he has quit the band.
Noel says he is both sad and relieved to be walking away from Oasis after 18 years.
In a statement on the band's official website, he wrote: "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.
"People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.
"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."
Disappointed fans at Rock en Seine were told about the cancellation on giant screens with a message explaining that "an altercation within the band" was to blame.
Singer Amy McDonald also posted an account of the brothers' tussle on her Twitter.com page: "Cancelled again with one minute to stage time!!! Liam smashed Noel's guitar, huuuge fight!"
The split comes just days after Oasis axed a headline slot at the U.K.'s V Festival on Sunday (23Aug09), blaming Liam's throat infection. The band was nearing the end of its current world tour, which has been riddled with reports of battles between the brothers.
Earlier this week (begs24Aug09) they were forced to release a statement denying split rumours. It read, "Oasis will complete the rest of the world tour in Europe and then take some well-earned time off before they begin to think about the next album and tour."
Oasis formed in Manchester, England in 1991, and were the biggest band of the U.K.'s Britpop movement in the 1990s. They sold more than 50 million records worldwide and had eight Number One singles in the British charts.

MICHAEL JACKSON was killed by a cocktail of strong prescription drugs, Los Angeles' County Coroner has sensationally ruled.
In an announcement made on Friday (28Aug09), Jackson's death was ruled a homicide and blamed on the "acute" presence of the anaesthetic Propofol and anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam in his system.
The superstar had also taken Midazolam (Versed), Diazepam (Valium), Lidocaine (topical anaesthetic) and Ephedrine prior to his death on 25 June (09).
The full autopsy report has not been released.
The final coroner's report, including the toxicology report, will remain on security hold, pending release by the Los Angeles Police Department, reports TMZ.com.
The Jackson family has, meanwhile, released a statement, praising the findings. It reads, "The Jackson family again wishes to commend the actions of the Coroner, the LAPD and other law enforcement agencies, and looks forward to the day that justice can be served."
The ruling looks set to kickstart a manslaughter investigation, with the spotlight on Jackson's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray - who is accused to administering Propofol to help the star sleep the night before he died.

Lawyers representing MICHAEL JACKSON's doctor have requested a copy of his autopsy results, just hours after a coroner ruled the superstar's death was a homicide.
Los Angeles County Coroner's Office announced on Friday (28Aug09) that Jackson was killed by the cocktail of drugs administered to him in the hours before his death. The primary cause of death was listed as "acute Propofol intoxication", referring to the strong anaesthetic Jackson used to help him sleep.
The homicide ruling will intensify the investigation into the star's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, who was with the Thriller legend on the day he died.
According to the Associated Press, Murray's lawyer Ed Chernoff has swiftly requested more information about the autopsy results - which have not been released in full. He tells the AP he needs to know the exact levels of drugs in Jackson's system.
Chernoff also criticised authorities for not releasing autopsy and toxicology results, describing the move as "gamemanship".
The lawyer added that Murray was not surprised by Friday's findings, claiming they are in line with what he told police.

Veteran crooner MICHAEL BOLTON found an unlikely writing partner to help him with his new album - pop sensation LADY GAGA.
Bolton had no idea who the Poker Face hitmaker was when she approached him to offer her services, shortly before her career exploded.
He explains, "I was taking a break from production when my manager and the label tag-teamed me on the phone about writing with a young artist named Lady Gaga who I had never heard of - but they were raving about - they said that she was a huge fan of mine and wanted to write with me."
The pair gelled and Bolton's convinced great things beckon for Gaga: "When I met her in the studio later that night, I realised she was not only about to have a big hit record but Gaga was a superstar about to launch - her energy was so high and her focus excited me. She reminded me of a young Madonna - with more exuberance and emphasis on the art rather than the marketing."
Their collaborations will feature on One World One Love, which hits stores next month (Sep09).

CHRIS BROWN's post-sentencing celebration this week has landed a Los Angeles nightclub in trouble - because he was partying underage.
The R&B star shocked fans on Tuesday (25Aug09) when he was snapped dancing in Hollywood club Guys & Dolls, just hours after he was handed a five year probation order, six months hard community labour and ordered to stay away from Rihanna, who he was convicted of assaulting.
A spokesperson confirmed on Friday (28Aug09) Brown's actions breached his probation, because the 20 year old was in an over-21 venue.
And now the hotspot's bosses are facing an investigation from Alcohol Beverage Contol, because they allowed an underage reveller in.
The ABC confirms to TMZ they are "looking into reports that are surfacing regarding an underage individual in Guys and Dolls".
If proven, the club's owners could lose their liquor license.
