LATE GAGA SORRY FOR EARLY FESTIVAL EXIT

LADY GAGA has apologised to fans at a British music festival after she was forced to make an early exit during her set on Saturday (22Aug09).

The pop star kept the crowd waiting as she was 15 minutes late to kick off her gig at the V Festival in Stafford, England and when the singer finally took to the stage, the audience went wild as she screamed, "England!" and launched into her hit Paparazzi.

She then said, "My name is Lady GaGa, I've been so excited to play V," before improvising a song about the U.K.

Later, she changed into a diamond-studded outfit and took a seat at a silver piano to pay tribute to her loyal following, announcing, "I live for nothing more than my fans, you guys are the f**king coolest fans on the planet."

But things started to go wrong when thousands more fans than expected flocked to see her performance - pushing security personnel to the limit.

The crowd swelled to such dangerous levels that officials were forced to drag many revellers from the crowd to prevent them from being crushed - with one girl fainting and six others receiving treatment for minor injuries.

And things turned nasty as the singer faced an onslaught of boos when she announced she had to cut short her track Poker Face, apologising to the crowd: "I'm so sorry, but I have to go. I'm so sorry, but I love you so much."

The 23 year old later took to her Twitter.com page to explain the error.

She wrote, "Stage manager pulled the plug because I was 5 minutes over my time at V fest. Show was incredible. A shame people have no respect for music.

"My fans were lovely and really deserved to hear pokerface (sic). I love you and I'm sorry."

The cut-performance wasn't the only thing that went wrong during Lady GaGa's set - her heel snapped off her stiletto mid-way through a dance routine, prompting the star to demand a new pair of heels and throwing the broken pair into the crowd.
