British singer SIR CLIFF RICHARD has lodged an appeal to prevent officials from demolishing a conservatory he added to his home.
Sir Cliff Richard arrives at Wimbledon 2009 to watch the Men's Semi-Finals.
London, England - 03.07.09
Planning officials at Runnymede Borough Council have deemed the structure "too big" and allege it was added to the Surrey, England property without government authorisation.
But the 68 year old is determined to save the add-on, and has filed an appeal against a notice enforcing the demolition.
Richard, who has been trying to sell the three-bedroom bungalow, reportedly failed to acquire permission for the extension when it was built in 2006.
A spokesperson for the council says, "Sir Cliff Richard has made an appeal against the planning permission and enforcement notice.
"We await the appeal decision and for the inspector to decide if it comes down and how long Sir Cliff has to demolish the conservatory."
The singer risks prosecution if he refuses to comply with the order.
