17 AGAIN
Cast: Leslie Mann, Matthew Perry, Melora Hardin, Michelle Trachtenberg, Zac Efron
Synopsis: What would you do if you got a second shot at life?
Class of 1989, Mike O'Donnell is a star on his high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlett and the baby he just learned they are expecting.
Almost 20 years later, Mike's glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart, he has been passed over for a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned.
But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but his thirtysomething outlook is totally uncool in the class of 2009.
And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him.
ALIEN TRESPASS
Cast: Dan Lauria, Eric McCormack, Robert Patrick, Jenni Baird, Jody Thompson
Synopsis: The story begins in 1957 in the star-filled skies above California's Mojave Desert. It is a special night for noted astronomer Ted Lewis (ERIC McCORMACK), who is preparing a special dinner for his beautiful, adoring wife Lana (JODY THOMPSON) to celebrate their wedding anniversary. In another part of town, Tammy (JENNI BAIRD), a waitress at the small local diner with big plans for the future, looks out her window and is excited to see a shooting star, which she takes as a good sign for her dreams.
But what Dr. Lewis and Tammy assume is a shooting star, is really an alien spaceship. The fiery ball hurtles toward earth and crash-lands on a butte in the desert. The only witnesses are Dick (ANDREW DUNBAR) and Penny (SARAH SMYTH) who are necking in a nearby lovers' lane.
A tall, metallic alien named Urp emerges from the craft unharmed, alarmed to discover that the monstrous Ghota, who was also on board, has escaped. The menacing one-eyed creature's unquenchable appetite could mean the end of civilization as we know it.
Urp is the only one who knows how to stop the hideous extra-terrestrial, but to do so he has to take over the body of Dr. Lewis and enlist the aid of Tammy, the only human in town willing to believe and trust in his mission. The local police - including police Chief Dawson (DAN LAURIA) and officer Vernon (ROBERT PATRICK) - are confirmed skeptics and offer little help. Together, Urp and Tammy must hunt down the Ghota and neutralize it before it consumes all the local inhabitants and uses the human fuel to multiply and conquer the world!
THE CLASS
Cast: Francois Begaudeau
Synopsis: Francois and his fellow teachers prepare for a new year at a high school in a tough neighborhood. Armed with the best intentions, they brace themselves to not let discouragement stop them from trying to give the best education to their students.
Cultures and attitudes often clash in the classroom, a microcosm of contemporary France. As amusing and inspiring as the teenaged students can be, their difficult behavior can still jeapordize any teacher's enthusiasm for the low-paying job. Francois insists on an atmosphere of respect and diligence. Neither stuffy nor severe, his extravagant frankness often takes the students by surprise. But his classroom ethics are put to the test when his students begin to challenge his methods...
GIGANTIC
Cast: John Goodman, Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel, Edward Asner, Jane Alexander
Synopsis: Brian Weathersby (PAUL DANO) is a 28 year-old salesman at a high-end Swedish mattress company. The afterthought child to elderly parents (ED ASNER, JANE ALEXANDER), and the youngest son in a trio of successful brothers, a shady oil man (IAN ROBERTS), a surgeon (ROBERT STANTON), Brian is searching for his place in the world. Unfulfilled by his work he spends a good portion of his day pursuing his goal of someday adopting a baby from China. He gets swept up in a romance with the lovely but misguided Harriet Lolly (ZOOEY DESCHANEL) when she comes in to his store one day and falls asleep on one of the beds. To win her over, he must compete with her bear of a father, Al Lolly, (JOHN GOODMAN) an art-collecting loudmouth with a bad back and deep pockets. GIGANTIC is a funny, surreal love story about the anxiety that comes when two people with crazy families collide unexpectedly and fall for each other.
I LOVE YOU, MAN
Cast: Jaime Pressly, Jon Favreau, Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones, Jason Segel
Synopsis: In “I Love You, Man,” a comedy from John Hamburg (“Along Came Polly,” co-writer of “Meet The Parents,” “Meet The Fockers,” “Zoolander”), Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd, “Knocked Up” “The 40 Year Old Virgin”) is a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, (“The Office’s” Rashida Jones), discovers, to his dismay and chagrin, that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man. Peter immediately sets out to rectify the situation, embarking on a series of bizarre and awkward “man-dates,” before meeting Sydney Fife (Jason Segel, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”), a charming, opinionated man with whom he instantly bonds. But the closer the two men get, the more Peter’s relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancée and his new found “bro,” in a story that comically explores what it truly means to be a “friend.”
PARIS 36
Cast: Clovis Cornillac, Gerard Jugnot, Kad Merad, Nora Arnezeder, Pierre Richard
Synopsis: The setting is Spring 1936; a working-class district in the north of Paris. This neighborhood probably had a name once but now everyone simply calls it The Faubourg. At the top of the hill is a view over Paris to one side and, to the other, the burgeoning suburbs of the city. In the center of town there is a small square, a few shops, lopsided buildings, cobbled streets and the peeling façade of the neighborhood music hall, the Chansonia.
In this blue-collar neighborhood, the triumphant election of the Popular Front government is greeted with enthusiasm and hopes for a brighter tomorrow, yet stirs up all kinds of extremism. Among the new government's promises is a law guaranteeing paid holidays for workers.
In early May, three residents of the Faubourg – Pigoil, Milou, and Jacky – still sulk over the closing of the Chansonia four months ago. PIGOIL (Gérard Jugnot), a stagehand at the Chansonia for thirty years, could lost the custody of his 12 year-old son JOJO (Maxence Perrin) if he doesn’t find any work. MILOU (Clovis Cornillac), the Chansonia’s hotheaded electrician and resident skirt-chaser struggles with the shift in goverment regimes and often serves as a spokesman for the 'workers aristocracy.' JACKY (Kad Merad), former sandwich man at the Chansonia, dreams of showing the world his talent for the stage. He refers to himself as the Prince of Imitators.
Supported by the locals who live to the rhythm of MONSIEUR TSF's (Pierre Richard) radio, the three friends decide to take hold of their destiny by producing the 'hit' musical the Chansonia has always needed.
Along the way, they encounter several obstacles, including the hostile antagonism of the neighborhood 'godfather', GALAPIAT (Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu) and his group of thugs. With the help of the town, and the arrival of a mysterious and beautiful young actress named DUCE (Nora Arnezeder), PIGOIL, MILOU, and JACKY bring the magic of the stage back to the Chansonia.
