TITO ORDERED JACKSON'S BAND TO LOOK OUT FOR DRUG TAKING

TITO JACKSON used to ask session musicians to report back if they ever spotted his brother MICHAEL JACKSON taking prescription drugs during rehearsals.

The second oldest Jackson son has revealed in a new interview with British newspaper The Mirror that his brother was first given painkillers to help ease the agonising burns he received while filming a 1984 Pepsi advert, when a firework set his hair on fire and left him with severe scalp injuries.

He was rushed to hospital following the accident, and was subsequently prescribed strong drugs so that he could keep the throbbing pain at bay.

Tito claims Jackson quickly became addicted to the painkillers, but assured the family he had kicked the habit after getting professional help.

He tells the publication, "He had been taking pain medicine because of the burns to his scalp and evidently he got some type of addiction from it.

"I understood he had got help for that addiction and after that I was always told he was doing OK.

"I would never go to him and say 'Are you still doing it?' I would just say 'Are you sure you're fine?' He'd say 'I'm fine, TT.'

"If he said he was OK I believed him. He knew what I meant, he knew I was talking about drugs."

And Tito admits he would have his pals in Jackson's band look out for signs the star had started taking pills again.

He adds, "I would always tell my musician friends who played in his band to watch out for my little brother, make sure he's OK."
