GUNS N' ROSES LEAKER SENTENCED TO HOME DETENTION

The man who leaked unreleased tracks from GUNS N' ROSES' comeback album CHINESE DEMOCRACY has been sentenced to two months of home detention.

Kevin Cogill confessed to the cyber crime in December (08) and was charged with a misdemeanour after he posted nine tracks from the then-unreleased record on his website, antiquiet.com.

The 28 year old revealed he had received the tracks online and without asking for them. He removed the songs as soon as he was contacted by representatives for the band, but, by then, more than 1,000 rock fans had downloaded the tracks - and crashed his website.

Prosecutors demanded that he serve a six-month prison sentence for the crime, but U.S. judge Pal L. Abrams has ordered Cogill to stay at home for two months, and allow the American government to survey his computers.

And Cogill used his sentencing to apologise to the band - insisting he never meant any harm to the band.

He told the court, "I never intended to hurt the artist. I intended to promote the artist because I'm a fan."
