JOE JACKSON: 'EVERYTHING IS FINE'

MICHAEL JACKSON's father insists 'everything is fine' in the wake of his son's sudden death last week (25Jun09), and he has called on music fans to remember the King of Pop was 'the greatest star in the world'.

Joe Jackson attended the BET Awards in Los Angeles with his daughter Janet on Sunday night (27Jun09) and told reporters after the event that he and the Jackson family are taking Michael's death "a little bit hard", but adding, "But they're hard (people)."

Joe Jackson revealed he was on his way to Las Vegas when he heard the news his son had suffered a cardiac arrest and died in Los Angeles on Thursday.

But he assured fans of his son that the Jacksons and Michael's three children are coping with the tragedy.

He tells U.S. TV news show Extra, "The children are being taken care of and we're working on the situation for the children being with us. Basically, everything is fine."
