QUAID TWINS WIN $500,000 PAY-OUT
Bosses at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have agreed to pay DENNIS QUAID's twins $250,000 (GBP166,600) each as part of a settlement related to the babies' near-fatal blood thinner overdose controversy.

Little Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace had to fight for life just 12 days after they were born in 2007 when a labelling mix-up led to a hospital nurse incorrectly administering an overdose of the drug Heparin to them.
Quaid and his wife Kimberley Buffington settled their dispute with the hospital in December (08), but lawyers for the couple insisted that wasn't enough, explaining the babies have not recovered "completely from the effects of the injuries."
The hospital bosses have agreed to pay up again, according to TMZ.com. Under the new settlement, hospital officials have also agreed to provide future medical care for the twins if it's related to their mishap.
Back in March (09), actor Quaid publicly applauded Cedars-Sinai Medical Center staff for addressing the labelling problems which led to the medical emergency.
As part of a special on TV show Oprah, the movie star returned to the hospital and met Chief Nursing Officer Linda Burnes Bolton, who was called in the night of the Heparin mix-up. She showed the actor all the adjustments that have been made at the hospital as a result of the incident, which she explained had served as "a catalyst to find ways to prevent those errors".
Quaid has since learned the hospital's executives have spent $100 million (GBP66.6 million) installing a high-tech computer barcode system that helps to eliminate human error.
He said, "I'd really like to applaud Cedars for what they've done... They really stepped up to the plate."
Quaid and his wife have launched a campaign for better bottle-labelling systems to prevent hospital tragedies across America.
