OASIS PROMISED FANS REFUND AFTER TROUBLED GIG

LIAM and NOEL GALLAGHER have promised 70,000 fans a refund after the brothers were forced to abandon an OASIS concert due to sound problems.

The Wonderwall hitmakers took to the stage for a homecoming gig in Manchester, England on Thursday night (04Jun09), but the show was plagued with difficulties from the start.

The rockers stopped performing during their opening song, Rock 'N' Roll Star, due to sound issues - and left the stage to a chorus of boos from the crowd, reports NME.com.

The band returned 10 minutes later and launched into a rendition of hit song Lyla - but the technical difficulties had not been resolved and the group was forced to abandon that track too.

The Gallaghers and their bandmates left the stage again and fans were told via a big screen announcement that a generator had caused the problem and engineers were trying to fix it.

Oasis came back onstage after 40 minutes - and vowed to make it up to their patient fans.

Liam told the crowd, "Really sorry about that. This is a free gig now. Everyone will get a refund."

And his brother Noel added, "The curfew's 11, but we'll play until they kick us off. Keep your ticket and you'll get your money back."
