JARVIS REGRETS JACKSON BRITS PROTEST
British rocker JARVIS COCKER regrets his headline-grabbing mockery of MICHAEL JACKSON at the 1996 Brit Awards - because he wasn't prepared for the notoriety which followed his stage invasion.

The former Pulp star stunned the music world when he and an associate staged an impromptu protest during Jackson's performance of Earth Song - and had to be physically removed from the stage by security guards.
Cocker admits he had always "fantasised" about the level of fame he received after the infamous backside-baring incident but he had no idea how intense it would be.
He tells Spin magazine, "That one action transported me to a kind of tabloid fame, which I couldn't have imagined... My whole set of values had nothing to do with that kind of tabloidy thing. It took me a long time to work through.
"I just pushed it too far with that thing, 'cause it wasn't 'Jarvis Cocker played an amazing song at the Brit Awards last night.' It was, 'Jarvis Cocker titted about at the Brit Awards last night.'
"I had been in a band 15 years, and in 15 seconds, I became more well known. All that bloody work! Thrown away!"
