HARDING LANDS ST TRINIAN'S ROLE

GIRLS ALOUD star SARAH HARDING is set to swap singing for a major movie role - she has reportedly landed a part in the upcoming ST TRINIAN'S sequel.

The band previously announced they are to take some time away from music to concentrate on solo projects, with Harding launching her acting career with a role in British TV drama Free Fall earlier this year (09).

And now she looks set to establish herself as a film star by appearing in a follow-up to 2007's St Trinian's, in which her band appeared for a brief cameo.

A source tells British newspaper the Mail on Sunday, "Sarah has auditioned for the role and is about to be signed. She will play a new girl at St Trinian's who gets herself into a bit of trouble."

Former O.C. star Mischa Barton was also linked to the project recently, but has now reportedly lost out on the chance to appear in the movie.

The insider adds, "We've decided not to have Mischa."

The new St Trinian's film, the seventh in the long-running franchise, is set for release in late 2009.
