IGGY POP has cleared up the embarrassment of appearing in a banned TV ad campaign for an online U.K. insurance company - explaining he found out too late he's someone you can't help but like.

The punk icon signed up to represent Swiftcover on British TV before he found out he was at the top of the company's list of spokespeople.
He tells British newspaper The Times, "This is so embarrassing... They said they wanted this series of ads to be performed by somebody you can't help but like!"
Pop, who partly made his name by performing energetic stage shows which involved him stripping for fans and cutting his torso with glass, became the unlikely face of Swiftcover and appeared on buses and on TV before the ads were pulled for being "misleading" by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority.
