Basketball great and jazz musician WAYMAN TISDALE has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 44.
An Olympic gold medallist, the former Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and Phoenix Suns star turned to jazz when he quit basketball after 12 seasons and made his musical debut in 1995 with the album Power Forward.
Tisdale went on to release eight albums and scored three number ones on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.
His most recent album, 2008's Rebound, featured a cover of Barry White's Never Gonna Give You Up featuring country star and fellow Oklahoman Toby Keith.
Tisdale was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2007 and lost his right leg to the disease last summer (08).
