JUDGE REOPENS HEARING IN LIL WAYNE'S GUN POSSESSION TRIAL
A New York judge has reopened a hearing on whether a handgun found on rapper LIL WAYNE's tour bus in 2007 can be used as evidence in his upcoming trial for criminal gun possession.

The rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, was arrested in July 2007 after a concert at New York's Beacon Theatre when a police officer said she boarded the bus because she smelled marijuana, and then saw the star attempt to hide a gun.
Wayne pleaded not guilty and was freed on $70,000 (£48,275) bail, with his lawyers arguing the officer falsely claimed to smell the drug so she could board the bus.
In February (09), New York State Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon ordered jury selection to begin immediately following the rapper's U.S. tour, which he completed on 12 April (09), and slated a trial date for 20 April (09).
But the judge decided to reopen a hearing after a previously undisclosed police report was discovered detailing the officer's conversations with Lil Wayne from the moment they saw him on his bus until his arrest.
Defence lawyer Stacy Richman asked for a new court date, with the female officer in attendance, according to U.S. reports.
Judge Solomon scheduled the hearing for 20 May (09).
