FLESH-N-BONE'S GUN CHARGES DROPPED

Rapper FLESH-N-BONE walked away from a jail sentence on Monday (20Apr09) after gun possession charges against the hip-hop star were dropped by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge.

The Bone Thugs-N-Harmony star, real name Stanley Howse, was charged by California cops after he was stopped in Santa Clarita on 2 April (09) for a broken brake light.

The MC is currently on parole for an earlier probation violation and the stop prompted police to search his Canyon Country home, resulting in the discovery of the gun.

Howse pleaded not guilty to the felony count, claiming the weapon belonged to his wife, an officer with the Chicago, Illinois police force.

He was set to appear before the judge last week (16Apr08) for a preliminary hearing, but the case was pushed back after Howse's lawyers put forward new information requiring further investigation.

Howse was forced to remain in custody until Monday, and subsequently had all charges dropped at the Santa Clarita, California courthouse due to the new information put forward by his legal team.

A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles district attorney's office says, "The defence turned over some information, and we investigated and realised we were unable to proceed with the charges as filed, so the judge dismissed the case."

The star's lawyer adds, "It vindicates what I've said from the start of this case, which is that Mr. Howse did not possess any contraband.

"When you haven't done anything wrong and you wind up in jail it's a pretty traumatic event. There's still a parole hold, and we hope to get that resolved within the next week."
