JAPANESE POP STAR ROBBED IN SWEDEN

Japanese pop sensation HIDEKI KAJI has been beaten and robbed while recording a music video in Sweden.

The star, who has scored 10 hit albums in his home country, was filming a promo for his latest single in Malmo, Sweden on Saturday (04Apr09) when he was attacked by three men.

He was badly beaten in the attack, which also saw him robbed of thousands of dollars of camera equipment.

The singer, who was dressed as a pineapple for the shoot, had been left alone with the equipment when the attack occurred.

Malmo police spokesman Mattias Attin says, "Three men then walked toward him, beat him up and robbed him. He was hit so hard that he lost a filling. He then passed out. When he woke up camera equipment worth a total of 20,000 kronor ($2,500/£1,724) had been stolen."
