SIMPLY RED frontman MICK HUCKNALL has filed suit against another major record label - a year after resolving a seven-year legal battle with another music company.
The Holding Back The Years singer was previously embroiled in a lengthy dispute with record label Warner; the feud was sparked in 2000 when the label released retrospective album It's Only Love against Hucknall's wishes.
Hucknall eventually won 50 per cent control of his back catalogue and has released all of his new music through his own website simplyred.com.
But now the star and his business associates are heading back to court to challenge record label EMI in a $43,500 (£30,000) action over its 1996 release of a Simply Red Greatest Hits CD.
According to the lawsuit, 51,000 copies of the album were provided by EMI to a now-defunct firm called Entertainment UK Ltd.
Hucknall is seeking a share of the profits from the CD sales as well as damages.
