JACKSON LOSES BATTLE TO HALT AUCTION

MICHAEL JACKSON has lost his battle to stop an auction of items from his Neverland Ranch.

Thirty pieces of Michael Jackson memorabilia are being exhibited at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. New York City, USA - 24.03.09

A huge haul including Jackson's costumes and the gates to the famous California estate are due to go under the hammer on 22 April (09).

The sale is being organised by bosses at Julien's Auction House, who insist the star gave them permission to sell his belongings.

But Jackson's attorneys are fighting the auction and attended a court hearing in Los Angeles on Friday (3Apr09), along with the singer's father Joe.

A judge ruled against the star - but Jackson has vowed to take his appeal to another court on 15 April (09), reports TMZ.com.

The battle between Jackson and Julien's got messy last month (Mar09) when auction house bosses accused the star's representatives of threatening violence in a bid to stop the sale. Jackson's attorney denied the allegations, describing them as a "scurrilous attack".

The auction is scheduled to take place online and at the Beverly Hilton hotel from 22 to 25 April.
