The guitarist, 60, reportedly died from a heart attack on 6 January (09) - just months after reconciling with Iggy Pop for a Stooges comeback.
And he'll be remembered at the Fillmore Detroit as part of the 18th annual city prizegiving, which will feature a reunion of the original Amboy Dukes and a tribute to Motown on the soul label's 50th anniversary.
The Amboy Dukes will be presented with a Distinguished Achievement Award and they will perform together for the first time in 30 years.
