JAZZ STAR BO DIES

Jazz pianist and singer EDDIE BO has passed away at the age of 79.

The star, born Edwin Joseph Bocage, died of a heart attack on Wednesday (18Mar09), according to The New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Bo first found fame fronting various bands and later wrote and released singles for labels including Ace, Ric, Apollo and Chess.

Singer Little Richard scored a hit with Slippin' and Slidin', adapted from Bo's song I'm Wise, while Etta James entered the charts with a cover of his classic Dearest Darling.
