NEWLY-FREED RAPPER FORTE TO BECOME TEACHER

Rapper JOHN FORTE is following through on his vow to help educate youths after his release from prison - he's landed a job as a teacher in New York.

The Grammy-winning producer and former Fugees affiliate spent half of a 14 year sentence behind bars in a New Jersey jail after being found guilty of cocaine smuggling in 2001.

Forte has always maintained his innocence of the charges, and he was given a presidential pardon by former U.S. leader George W. Bush in November (08), leading to his release in December (08).

And now the star is teaming up with the In Arms Reach programme, aimed at providing a positive environment for troubled children and kids of incarcerated parents.

Forte will lead a 12-week course teaching students aged between 12 and 15 about the therapeutic uses of music to deal with stress, anger and pain.

His representative tells AllHipHop.com, "John hopes that the catharsis of song composition will help children deal with the stigma of having a family member who is incarcerated and rebuild the spirit of those who have been traumatised or abandoned."
