KATE WINSLET'S THE READER DVD
Genius Products and The Weinstein Company's THE READER will be available on DVD on April 14, 2009!
Kate Winslet takes home an Oscar for Best Actress in her moving portrayal of Hannah, an older woman whose torrid summer love affair with a young boy, Michael, resurfaces when on trial years later for her participation in Nazi war crimes during post-World War II Germany. Now a law student, Michael, played by stand-out newcomer David Kross and two-time Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes, is then faced with the unsettling dilemma of revealing a deep-seeded secret in order to save Hannah from prison.
Winslet, Fiennes and Kross round out a powerful ensemble cast in this brilliant thriller (recognized by the Academy for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography) from three-time Oscar nominated director Stephen Daldry.

Synopsis: Hannah (Winslet) has a passionate summer affair with a young neighbor named Michael (Fiennes and Kross), but then disappears. She resurfaces years later as one of the defendants in a war crimes trial stemming from her actions as a World War II concentration camp guard. Michael alone realizes that he has information that can set her free, and must decide whether or not to save her.
